Goose Hunts hero detail
The Hunt

Goose at the edge of the prairie.

Most waterfowlers consider Saskatchewan a goose hunter's dream. Located in the central flyway with vast farmland, wetlands, and lakes, our goose hunts are a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Giant Canadas (up to 14 lbs), lessers, cacklers, white-fronted geese ("specks" or speckle bellies), Ross, and snows all inhabit our hunting area. They feed consistently on pea fields (the crop of choice — usually first to be harvested before the season opens), barley, and silage cuts.

All goose hunts are exclusively on farm fields. We never hunt the water — that preserves the roosts as safe, calm refuges and means the birds stay relaxed all season. Calm relaxed birds make for better goose hunts, every time.

Daily bag: 8 dark geese / 20 light geese · Non-toxic shot · Half-hour before sunrise to half-hour after sunset shooting hours.

Quick Answers

Goose Hunts FAQ.

What's a typical goose hunt morning look like?

Pre-dawn pickup at the lodge with hot coffee and a light breakfast. Short drive to the field. Decoys go out, blinds get prepped, and the action starts at first light. We focus on getting birds to finish — feet down, wings cupped, right on top of the blinds.

Why do you only hunt fields, not water?

Hunting roost water pressures the birds and shortens the season. By keeping the water as undisturbed refuge, the birds stay calm, confident, and decoy easily on the fields where we hunt.

What's the goose limit in Saskatchewan?

Limits vary by species — generally 8 dark geese (Canadas/specks) and 20 light geese (snows/Ross) per day. Daily limits are confirmed at your pre-hunt briefing.

Do you guide mixed-bag duck/goose hunts?

Yes. Most morning hunts are mixed bag — geese tend to come first, ducks shortly after. Afternoons we'll often shift to a snow goose or pothole duck hunt.
